On April 28, the University Program Board (UPB) will be hosting their upcoming end-of-year event inspired by the 2016 era and Coachella’s yearly music festival.
Some of the activities include a baby animal petting zoo, henna tattoos, flower crown making, face paint, a photo booth and tie-dye.
Booths with food will also be available, including Crumbl Cookies, soft pretzels and 2016-inspired fog bubble sodas.
Lead planner, Savannah Briggs, said the planning process was extremely fun, and that the committee is excited to play into the recent “2026 is the new 2016” trend.
“I think what I’m most excited for is the soda stand. I got to create each recipe and name myself, so I’m excited for students to try them at the event,” said Briggs.
Briggs also gave a sneak peek at to what the soda flavors would be, including one inspired by the iconic 2016 Unicorn Frappe, a “Pennywise Pop” including the fog bubble classic to fog sodas, and Dragon’s Breath, consisting of a blue-raspberry lemonade.
There will also be some physical games and activities such as an inflatable obstacle course, inflatable Skee-Ball and carnival games.
Alongside the activities there will be raffle tickets given out to students at the entrance, and a chance to win more by playing games. Tickets can be entered for a chance to win special prizes.
Some of the raffle prizes include a Spikeball set, an acoustic guitar, a tabletop fire pit with a s’mores kit, themed baskets and “blind bag” prizes, all available for students to win.
The event is set to take place starting at 5 p.m. in the SRU Quad, with the rain location being in the Smith Student Center Ballroom at 6 p.m.
