University President Karen Riley made a visit to the Maltby Center earlier this October to sit down and answer some questions submitted to WSRU-TV by the university community.

Here is her response to one of these questions:

Q: What are some new initiatives or programs that are happening on campus right now?

A: Something very exciting that we’re doing is in the field of construction management. That’s building on our success with safety, civil engineering and business. Some late breaking news we have coming out is a program around construction management with the Carpenters Union. So, if you are in the Carpenters Union, we take the people and their apprenticeship credentials and map it onto courses we already have; the people within those programs actually get credit towards their degree, not just electives, and they can stack three different certificates towards a degree. First of its kind in PASSHE (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education). First of its kind really across the country, and again, a reflection of meeting students where they are and being more creative in our approach.
