Her Campus is a new organization at SRU, established only about a year ago. The organization’s goal is to empower and uplift women’s voices here at Slippery Rock University.
Her Campus works toward this goal by sharing women’s stories, hosting events and offering advice to others.
Currently, the organization is participating in SRU’s Homecoming by joining in Paint the Town.
In the near future, members plan on having guest speakers at their meetings to help with resume building and article writing.
Madeline Cross, president of Her Campus, shared more information about the motivation behind leading the organization and plans for the future of the club.
“I was motivated to help run Her Campus because I wanted to be a part of helping create a community on campus where college students can connect, find support and express themselves,” Cross said. “As president, I want to help grow our chapter into a larger club where students can build lifelong friendships, build on their writing skills and feel empowered to share their voice with others.”
Students can get involved with Her Campus by following the organization on Instagram, reaching out through direct messages or by emailing mmc1040@sru.edu.
Students of all interests or majors are welcomed to join.
Her Campus SRU is also connected with the Her Campus national organization. Students interested in learning more about what the club does or what type of articles are written can visit the Her Campus website.
“Our mission for this club is to amplify women’s voices, celebrate our experiences, encourage personal growth and create a community where women uplift women,” Cross said.
