Halloween is quickly approaching, and students are planning how they will spend their weekend.

Halloween is a popular holiday celebrated on Oct. 31 every year. The celebration is known for dressing up in costumes, eating candy and spending time with friends.

SRU often hosts various activities for students on campus leading up to the holiday. University Program Board (UPB) hosted a Monster Mash Halloween Bash recently, which gave students the opportunity to participate in fun Halloween-themed activities.

Other organizations also hosted Halloween themed events throughout campus.

As Halloween approaches, The Rocket was curious to see how SRU students plan to spend the day.

The Rocket conducted a similar survey to last year to learn about new trends and what students are enjoying each Halloween.

The survey showed that, this year and last year, 100% of students who participated in the survey enjoy celebrating Halloween.

Many students shared that they will be spending time with friends and eating lots of candy.

100% of students shared that they are planning to dress up in a costume this year.

Some of the student’s costumes include Mordecai from Regular Show, a wicked witch and Sans from Undertale. Other students wanted to keep their costumes a surprise.

Students then shared what costumes they predict will be very popular this year.

The top two costumes that were predicted to be popular choices were Ryan Gosling from Project Hail Mary and Nikki from the movie Obsession.

Other students predicted that costumes including Tung Tung Tung Sahur, a vampire, a witch and Scream would also be popular choices.

When asked what students’ favorite Halloween candy was, many said candy corn, Reese’s and Milky Way.

Many students feel that Halloween is so enjoyable because of being able to spend time with friends, have candy and dress up.

“Halloween is just such a fun holiday, you get to dress up as one of your favorite characters with your friends. Plus, fall is the best season, and the beauty of it adds to the season,” one SRU student said.

“I think the spirit of Halloween makes everyone so social and happy. It’s the perfect excuse to veg out with friends and just have fun,” another student said.

Students shared that their favorite activities to do during Halloween are haunted attractions, dressing up and pumpkin carving.

Some of students’ favorite Halloween movies include Monster House, Scream, Halloween, Saw and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Halloween is also during the fall season, so students shared what they love about the season overall.

Many said that they love the cooler temperatures, the leaves changing color and pumpkin spice lattes.

Overall, SRU students are loving the fall season and excited to take on Halloween weekend.
