April 9- University Police received a call reporting a door alarm sounding at the McKay education building; however, dispatch advised that no alarm signal had been received. Officers responded to the location and determined that the alarm was isolated to the auditorium. Upon further investigation, it was found that maintenance personnel in the basement were using a saw, inadvertently triggering the alarm. The alarm panel was reset and a message was left with Safety requesting that the system be checked.
April 9- University Police received a call reporting a fire alarm at the Equestrian Center; however, dispatch advised that no alarm signal had been received. An officer responded to the scene and was able to silence the alarm but was unable to reset it. The cause of the alarm couldn’t be determined. A message was left with Safety requesting the system be checked.
April 9- University Police received a complaint regarding the theft of sweatpants from the second-floor laundry room. A group message was sent out, and it was later determined that the sweatpants had been taken by mistake and were returned to the complainant. No further action was taken by police.
April 10- University Police received a report of an individual who had fallen in the Swope Commuter parking lot and had injured their ankle. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was dispatched, arrived on the scene and transported the individual to Grove City Medical Center for treatment.
April 10- University Police are investigating an alcohol violation that occurred while a Community Assistant (CA) was conducting a health and safety check in Building F.
April 11- University Police were requested for assistance for a domestic at Madison Grove. Borough Police handled the call.
April 11- Police were called for individual(s) climbing Watson Hall. The individual(s) were ID’d and told to stop.
April 12- University Police received a call for assistance from Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) for a domestic call on Ayyar Court. University Police handled the call until the PSP officers arrived on scene.
April 13- University Police responded to a report of a vehicle on Harmony Road that had struck and damaged a stop sign. Upon arrival, the officer managed to make contact with the operator. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was operable. A portable stop sign was placed until maintenance could replace the damaged sign.
April 14- University Police responded to a report of a male and female arguing in the West Lake Commuter parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located both individuals, who stated that they had recently ended their relationship and were involved in a verbal argument only. The female gathered her belongings from the male’s vehicle and departed from the area with friends. The male left the area without incident.
April 16- Butler 911 contacted dispatch and requested the University Police assist Slippery Rock Borough police with a reported dispute at Taco Bell between two males, one of whom was reported to have a knife. Upon the officer’s arrival, they were informed that the suspect had fled the scene. The victim provided the suspect’s address. Officers responded to the residence but were unable to make contact with the suspect. Slippery Rock Borough police are handling the investigation.
