SRSGA met formally on Monday, March 31 at 5 p.m. in the Smith Student Center to approve new funding requests.

SRSGA approves new funding requests

During the meeting, SRSGA unanimously approved funding requests for initiative and grant requests.

The approved initiative requests were $500 for the Powerlifting Club and $2,229.48 for the Fitness and Wellness Club.

The approved grant requests were $240 and $330 for the Athletic Training Association Conference and $336 for the Sigma Tau Delta Conference.

President Bloom addresses participation

President Ella Bloom expressed disappointment with members of the SRSGA Senate regarding their participation, hoping that in the future, members are more vocal.

“The last few meetings, I feel like we haven’t really had participation and it kinda brings me down a little bit guys, because I want you to be passionate about SGA.” Bloom later added, “It’s very difficult to sit up here and stare at all of you as you all just stare at me plainly like you’re bored.”

Senators addressed the new microphone setup, which now requires Senators to walk up to the central microphone to address the Senate, as a reason for their hesitancy to speak at meetings.

Election Update

Elections for SRSGA positions are approaching, with a debate being held on Thursday April 3 at 12:30 p.m. that will last one hour. The debate will be held at the WSRU-TV studio in Maltby Center.

President Ella Bloom will be moderating the debate, answering questions generated by moderators. The event is a closed forum, meaning that audience members cannot ask questions, but it is a public event open to the community.

Voting begins at 8 a.m. on April 7th and closes at 5 p.m. on April 9 on CORE.
