On Saturday, The Rock men’s basketball team was able to keep their momentum and
grabbed their fourth win in the last five games. They defeated Edinboro 79-73 in a game that seemed like it could go either way.

In the first half, Micah Till led The Rock with 14 points as he went 5-of-7 from the field and
went 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Till was also able to grab four rebounds in the first half and played a big part in The Rock heading into the half with a one point lead.

Slippery Rock only shot 34% from the field, shooting 13-of-38. And although the Fighting Scots shot 48% from the field (13-of-27) in the first half, The Rock was still able to walk into the half with a one point lead.

“The intensity and effort, we got a little complacent and we had that little spirt in the first
half which was good and we had another one early to middle second half again, so we just need to do it more evenly across 40 minutes,” SRU coach Ian Grady said.

The Rock was able to pull the lead up to 14 points at one point, but Edinboro fought back
and was able to make the game a lot closer. Amante Britt led The Rock in the second half in
points with 13. Till and Will Robinson Jr. both put up 12 points. Britt also led the team in
minutes with 33.

Till finished the game with 26 points and shot 64% in only 29 minutes of action. Robinson also had an impressive night, putting up 20 points and five rebounds. He also was perfect at the line, going 6-for-6 in free throws. And those free throws are the differential by which The Rock won the game.

“It definitely made things uncomfortable, I think we had the lead stretched out to 14 at one point and then we kind of got complacent at the defensive end,” Grady said. “We didn’t execute in the half court and we took some bad shots, but ultimately it felt good to win.”

Edinboro fought back to make the game a one possession game multiple times and was only down by three with 25 seconds to go.

The big story of the game for Till was that he is now eighth in program history as he now
has 1,301 points. Till has only played in 63 games for the Rock, but still has amassed over 1,300 points and has a chance to move up even further.

The Rock currently sits in a playoff spot with 10 games left in the season. The Rock
started the season off slow, but with the return of Micah Till, The Rock has been able to turn the season around. The Rock’s next game is at 7:30 on Wednesday at home against Gannon and they will finish out the first circuit of PSAC West games.
