January 20 – Slippery Rock Borough Police Department used the Datamaster in connection with a possible DUI at the University Police Station.

January 20 – Police responded to an individual who had fallen on an icy sidewalk at Campus Drive. The individual refused medical treatment and no further action was taken.

January 20 – A nurse at the Student Health Center called University Police and requested an ambulance for an individual in need of medical attention. The person was transported to Grove City Medical Center.

January 20 – During a routine patrol, police observed a parked vehicle with the driver’s and passenger doors left open at Lower Stadium C parking lot. Police then found alcohol inside of the vehicle. Hanna Zeiler, 19, was charged with underage possession of alcohol.

January 21 – Police received a call from the Student Health Center to check on an individual at Watson Hall. The officer on scene and the individual were transported to Grove City Medical Center by the CA and a friend.

January 21 – Pennsylvania State Police were at the University Police Station in order to use the Datamaster with a possible DUI operator.

January 21 – Police received a complaint of a possible theft of 4 missing cameras at the Spotts World Culture Building. The matter is under investigation.

January 21 – Police received a call for an individual in need of medical assistance at Building A. EMS and police were on scene and the individual was transported to Grove City Medical Center. 

January 21 – Police received a call from a CA at Building E for an alcohol violation. Charges are still pending.

January 21 – Police received a call from a CA at Building A for an alcohol violation by multiple individuals. Brent Martin, 18, Oakley Lords, 18, Nicholas Bertucci, 19, Cameron Cowder, 19, Martin Duffus, 19, Mikayla Kanalis, 19, Sophia Marquette, 19, Christian Markiewicz, 19, Hope Lichner, 20, Rachel Lucas, 20, Jordan Rickett, 20 and Jessica Schloder, 20, were all charged with underage possession of alcohol.

January 21 – Police received a call regarding an individual at Building B that was being tracked by an air tag device. No device was discovered and the case is still under investigation.

January 22 – Police responded to a fire alarm at Building F which was set off by steam from a person’s shower. The alarm system was reset.

January 22 – University Police responded to a fire alarm at Boozel Dining Hall that was set off for unknown reasons. The occupants were allowed back into the building and a message was left for Safety to check the alarm system. 

January 22 – Police responded to a fire alarm and sprinkler activation at the Advanced Technology and Science Hall (ATS). No fire was reported inside, and Maintenance and Safety were also notified.

January 22 – Police received a call from a CA at Building D for marijuana odor. Police responded and confiscated the drugs and drug paraphernalia. Mia Giammatteo, 19, was cited with disorderly conduct.

January 23 – While on patrol, police noticed a vehicle with a car door left open at the Green and White Way. Police attempted to contact the owner and then secured the door shut.

January 23 – Police received a call from a CA at Rhoades Hall for a marijuana odor. Police responded but nothing was found and the matter was closed.

January 24 – Slippery Rock Borough Police requested assistance with a vehicular accident that occurred on Kelly Boulevard. University Police arrived on scene to conduct traffic until the vehicles were moved from the roadway.

January 24 – University Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Harmony Road. The vehicle went off the road and slid into trees. Slippery Rock Township crew was in the area and Pry’s Towing was notified. The operator of the vehicle refused medical treatment.

January 24 – Police were investigating a hit-and-run that occurred at the Physical Therapy Lot. The incident was reported on crime stoppers web submission. The person was identified and the case is under investigation.

January 25 – Police received a complaint of unwanted social media messaging at the University Union. The person was advised to ask the individuals to stop contacting them and to file a report with the police department.

January 25 – Police responded to a fire alarm at Boozel Dining Hall that was set off due to excess hamburger grease. The alarm system was reset.

January 25 – Police responded to a fire alarm at Watson Hall that was set off by the steam from someone taking a shower.

January 25 – University Police responded to an individual in need of medical attention at North Hall. EMS was dispatched and transported the person to Grove City Medical Center.

January 25 – Slippery Rock Borough Police requested backup with three suspicious individuals that were located at Kwik Fill. The individuals were identified and Borough Police are now handling the investigation. 

January 26 – Police responded to a fire alarm at Watson Hall that was set off by burnt food. The systems were reset.

January 26 – Police received a call from a CA at Watson Hall that there was an individual in need of medical attention. The officer on scene and the individual were transported to the Student Health Center.

Mac Bell is a senior communication major with a concentration in converged journalism and a minor in political science. This is his first semester with The Rocket as assistant news editor. Aside from The Rocket, Mac is also busy serving as the president of WSRU-TV, working as the executive producer of a new hit production called “Butler Business Now."
