October 24– University Police responded to a vehicle accident near the Central Loop entrance to Slippery Rock University. The driver reported that their vehicle hydroplaned while turning onto campus and struck the curb with the front passenger-side tire. The car was determined to be inoperable, and Pry’s Towing was called to remove it from the scene. No injuries were reported.
October 24– University Police received a call about an individual who had passed out in Miller Auditorium, prompting the dispatch of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). By the time police and EMS arrived, the individual was responsive and requested for the call to be canceled. After evaluation, first responders confirmed the individual was okay and required no medical treatment. No further action was taken.
October 26– The Slippery Rock Police Department assisted Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) with a report of possible gunshots at the University Village apartments. Police detained a suspect at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing under the jurisdiction of PSP.
October 27– University Police are investigating damage to a vehicle windshield that occurred while it was parked in the Morrow Field House track-side lot. The incident reportedly happened the morning of October 21.
October 28– University Police received a report from a staff member regarding an email in which an individual expressed intentions of self-harm. Police contacted the Slippery Rock Borough Police to request a welfare check. Later, Borough Police confirmed that they had made contact with the individual on Lowell Avenue and found them safe.
October 28– University Police responded to a minor hit-and-run incident in the West Lake Commuter Lot. A vehicle backing into a parking space struck another parked car, whose owner was inside at the time. The driver exited their vehicle and walked away despite the other driver attempting to get their attention. Police dispatch later contacted the driver, who returned to the scene. Both parties exchanged information, and no further action was taken.
October 29– University Police responded to the Smith Student Center for a medical emergency involving an individual experiencing low blood sugar. Police and EMS treated the individual, who declined further medical care.
October 29– University Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Kiester Road. One driver sustained minor injuries to their left hand and knee and was treated on scene by EMS before refusing additional care. One vehicle was towed by Pry’s Towing due to damage. The incident remains under investigation.
