The Slippery Rock softball team suffered a crucial doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon at Edinboro University.

The Rock is looking to make a return to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs, but with only two games left the window of opportunity is closing.

Slippery Rock (19-20, 8-10 PSAC) needs to at least split Sunday’s doubleheader against Gannon University and have California (Pa.) defeat Seton Hill University to have a chance at making it into the playoffs.

Against Edinboro the Green and White lost game one 5-2 and game two 8-7.

In game one the Fighting Scots jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings and The Rock was only able to put up two run in the failed comeback attempt.

In game two Edinboro had a 6-0 lead after the first two innings. Slippery Rock was able to score the next five runs, but Edinboro persevered, coming away with the 8-7 victory.

Senior Katie Kaiser led The Rock with five hits on the day, including one home run, four RBI and two runs scored.

The Rock will play host to Gannon tomorrow with its post-season hope on the line as the team celebrates its seniors on senior day.
