Slippery Rock women’s soccer team defeated California University (Pa.) on Wednesday with a score of 6-2, marking the fourth time this season The Rock scored six goals in a game.
SRU scored their first two goals just minutes from each other, with Peyton Los getting the first in the 30th minute, followed by a strike from Lilia Battalini in the 34th.
Cal U would get on the board shortly after when Macrina Robb was able to find the back of the net in the 35th minute, cutting SRU’s lead in half.
Slippery Rock would get two more goals to go up 4-1 before going to halftime, as Los picked up her second of the game and Summer Hill extended the lead to three off an assist from Battalini.
The Vulcans would record their first points of the second half, with Pia Stock scoring in the 76th minute to make the score 4-2.
Despite the setback, Lindsey Price and Jilly Deivert secured the win for SRU after scoring a pair of goals late in the contest.
In the contest, SRU outshot Cal U 19 to 10 in total shots, and 13-7 on shots on goal.
Slippery Rock currently has 27 goals scored in six games at home this season, averaging 3.22 goals per game on their turf.
With the win, The Rock takes the helm of the PSAC West again. This also comes with Gannon University’s last game resulting in a tie, knocking them down in the standings. SRU sits at a comfortable 6-2-1 overall record, and 5-1-1 amongst the West.
