
Kanye Thompson secured a second-place finish, as well as one of five total NCAA marks for the Rock during day two of the Jud Logan Light Given Invitation.
The two-day invitational, starting on Friday and ending on Saturday, was hosted at Ashland University.
The junior from McKeesport, Pa. is a four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion as well as being a three-time PSAC Championship qualifier.
Matthew Crow placed fifth in the 60 hurdles, finishing three seconds behind Massimo Pantano, and earned himself an NCAA mark as well.
Along with Thompson, Crow is also a four-time PSAC Champion and a six-time PSAC Champion Qualifier.
Graduate student Joey Cintavey clocked in a time of 4:14.15 in the one-mile run, placing ninth.
Michael Gauntner also placed in that event, crossing the finish line 14 seconds after Cintavey. Gauntner, the freshman from North Allegheny High School, crossed the finish line in the top five in three out of the four meets he competed in for cross-country for The Rock.
Clocking in a third-place finish for The White and Green is Seaton Wozniak, cinching an NCAA mark for himself by throwing 16.96 meters in the shot put elite. Joshua Gose also threw in the event, reaching 16.17 meters
Logan Parker and Zach Gose achieved the PSAC standard for the unseeded section for shot put. Parker threw a toss of 15.36 meters, securing him in fifth place and Gose was two places behind with a throw of 15.14 meters.
Bringing in another top five placement and tallying an NCAA mark for The Rock is Andrew Layton for the pole vault elite, marking in with 5.06 meters.
Logan Anderson was able to put up another NCAA mark for Slippery Rock by finishing fourth in the heptathlon and hit a PSAC standard in the 60-meter hurdles.
Logan Turton clenched the PSAC qualifying efforts with an 11th-place rank in high jump after clearing 1.90 meters.
The men’s team will go on to compete at the SPIRE Indoor Games at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday.
