The holiday season is here and Slippery Rock is gearing up for its annual Light Up Night.
The Christmas kickoff takes place on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Main Street. There are lots of exciting activities to enjoy throughout the evening and attendees can look forward to seeing Saint Nicholas himself.
For those on the nice list this year, Santa will be in attendance from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Other activities available include an art walk, Christmas tree contest and carolers singing favorite Christmas tunes.
The Christmas tree contest will take place at Rooster’s Coffee Bar. Organizations, businesses and community members were encouraged to participate. Throughout the holiday season the trees entered in the contest will be on display at NextTier Bank across the street.
While the weather will be on the colder side, the forecast for Saturday is clear skies for both day and night. Bundle your family up, grab yourself some hot chocolate and enjoy the community festivities with your fellow neighbor.
Toys for Tots will be collecting toy donations at several locations throughout the borough. Donations can be dropped off at North Country Brewing, Slippery Rock Borough Office and at the Christmas market during the event. There will also be a food drive to help support Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard.
