When I first started working at The Rocket, I saw it as just another job to help me get through college. Now, entering my third year as a staff member, I realize this position is so much more than “just another job.” Not only has working here been an invaluable experience, I’ve made a lot of good memories and great friends in The Rocket office.

As an Emerging Technology and Multimedia major, I’ve been able to work with all sorts of media. While they all have their merits, I’ve always seemed to gravitate towards print. There’s something about having a hard copy of something I designed in my hands that leaves me with a sense of pride that I don’t always get when I design something for web use or edit a video. After working on different advertisements and other graphics on a computer screen for a week, I always look forward to picking up a copy of The Rocket every Friday to see how they look in print.

With everything moving online nowadays, I know I may not always have the opportunity to see my work in print after I graduate. I’m very thankful to have had a few years of my work printed. While I may not work in print in the future, my time here has left me with an appreciation for print that I don’t think I would’ve had if I hadn’t gotten this job

Someday, I hope to work in live game day production for a professional sports team or sports network or continue working in advertising as a creative director.
