“No one looks stupid when they’re having fun.” – Amy Poehler

My name is Mary Leach and I am a senior Secondary Education English major and copy editor for the 2013-2014 academic year.  My goal is to help The Rocket maintain its reputation as a professional publication by eliminating pesky little errors that can make even the most polished newspaper look like Snoop Dogg’s tweets. When I’m not slaving over a red pen, I can usually be found with my nose in a book or my eyes glued to my laptop screen.  Although I do not write for The Rocket, I have always been passionate about language and the art of storytelling.  Several of my creative works have been published and my mom still hangs all of my poems on the refrigerator.  My passions include binge-watching television series on Netflix, drinking too much coffee, and youth development.  I hope my experience with The Rocket will help me develop my skills as an educator and come in handy when grading essays in my future classroom.  I look forward to working with the staff and contributing writers to bring informed and valuable information to the Slippery Rock community.
