On Oct. 27, SRU’s Student Nonprofit Alliance (SNA) cooperated with Dress for Success, a non-profit organization located in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Dress for Success provides feminine formal attire at no cost. This organization comes to SRU every semester and works alongside the Student Nonprofit Alliance. The attire includes dresses, blazers, button-ups, shoes and jewelry. They also have basic hygiene items available as well at no cost.
Rachel McDevitt, the social media chair for Student Nonprofit Alliance, spoke on the club’s mission and events they have coming up.
“We are a club that inspires students to learn, serve and lead in the student nonprofit sector. We do several service projects for the community and around campus,” McDevitt said. “We try to work with any nonprofits we can. We also do events for students on campus throughout the year as well.”
Student Nonprofit Alliance is planning on having a Self-Care Social before finals as a way for students to destress and take care of themselves, and also a movie night for students to hang out and socialize.
Kara Shidemantle, the president of Student Nonprofit Alliance, added more information on the organization and how students can get involved.
“We are open to all majors who want to get involved in volunteering and the nonprofit philanthropy actions in a more relaxed way. Student Nonprofit Alliance offers many volunteering options throughout the years, and we encourage anyone to come and join us,” Shidemantle said.
Students who are interested in SNA can find the organization and its upcoming events on CORE.
