Now that September has begun, many individuals look forward to enjoying the cooler weather and the leaves falling while wearing a cozy sweater.
Though this semester, some Slippery Rock students have expressed that it does not feel like fall yet.
Fall officially begins on September 21, but temperatures continue to rise to highs not even experienced during the summer months.
The Rocket spoke to students about their thoughts on the weather.
Many individuals shared that it felt hotter than normal outside.
“It’s too hot for me. I need a pool or something,” one SRU student said.
“I feel like in terms of comparing previous years that I’ve been at Slippery Rock, it feels pretty late for it to be this hot. I typically feel like it’s this hot in August or the summer, but it starts to cool down in September,” another student said. “I’m personally surprised that it is getting halfway into September and it is in the 80s and 90s still every single day.”
Some shared that it can also be unenjoyable walking to class or that they have not been spending as much time outside as they normally would be.
“I feel like when it’s not super hot but not freezing out, I want to be outside more,” an SRU student said.
Multiple students shared that an indication of it feeling like fall is the leaves on the trees changing.
“For me, I feel like whenever the leaves start falling and stuff is when I feel like that’s fall,” one SRU student said.
“This is the time of year that I love the most. And I love pumpkins, the pumpkin spice, all the fall stuff at Roosters, but I’m not feeling like I’m walking around in a fall environment,” another student said.
The majority of students interviewed feel that they are ready for it to start cooling down outside.
“I am biased towards fall weather. My favorite weather is whenever it’s a little bit chilly, very windy, rainy and especially that prime time of, it’s warm in the afternoon, but cold in the morning and at night,” an SRU student said.
Overall, according to the SRU student population interviewed, most are excited for it to start feeling like fall and are ready for the weather to cool down.
