From September 10-16, individuals had the opportunity to experience Chaos and Order.
Every year, the SRU art and English departments collaborate with students from Saga University to showcase the pieces in this exhibit.
“This year, the theme is about surrealism, so that was super fun, but the themes change every year,” Alexandria Kelly, a junior SRU student, said.
Students have the opportunity to submit their work to be featured in the exhibit.
“My piece is an abstract painting, and it took maybe around 30 hours. Our final painting project last semester was doing literally whatever we wanted, and I wanted to do something completely crazy because, throughout the semester, I had only copied images and I was honestly really tired of doing that,” Kelly said. “So it was really nice to just do something I wanted to do.”
Throughout the week, students and community members could visit the Martha Gault Art Gallery to see various works that the students have created on display.
Kelly shared how it felt to see her painting at this exhibit.
“It feels absolutely euphoric, it is so much fun and it is really special to me that people can look at it and really see the time that I took to make it,” Kelly said.
Individuals gathered on September 14 for a reception giving students the opportunity to enjoy and talk about their work.
“I went to see the Saga Show last year when I was a freshman, and I thought it was just awesome. I didn’t know they did it every year, so that’s really cool that I got to participate this time,” Asher Dodge, a sophomore at SRU, said. “I love seeing all of my peers’ work and everyone from Saga’s work, it’s just really cool.”
