Slippery Rock women’s soccer remains undefeated in their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play after defeating Clarion University on Wednesday at James Egli Field.

The Rock came out of the gate strong, firing two shots in the first minute of the game, delivered by Bailey McGee and Lilia Battalini.

The Eagles did not get a shot off before Slippery Rock found the back of the net for the first time, thanks to Marissa Salisbury and an assist from McGee, 22 minutes into the first half.

Just a minute after that, Clarion got their first shot on goal of the day, which Leah Allman blocked.

It took three more shots before the Eagles were able to put points on the board. An unassisted goal from Sofia Barba evened the score for Clarion.

The Rock closed out the half with two shots from Lindsey Price but was unable to reclaim the lead.

Coming into the second period, Slippery Rock had two shots on goal, but both were blocked by the Eagles’ goalie.

A yellow card on SRU gave Clarion a chance to come out on top, but it failed after their midfielder kicked it out.

The Eagles tried again with another shot on goal just three minutes later, but Allman blocked it.

The Rock took their turn to claim the lead with two shot attempts delivered by Salisbury and Battalini. Both came up empty, but it did not stop The Rock from putting on pressure with four more shots before finding the back of the net again with a goal by Miley Kariotis.

It was the freshman’s first goal of the season.

The Eagles attempted to come back with a shot on goal just minutes later but failed.

The Rock took the win 2-1.

The team will continue their PSAC slate on the road when they travel to South Campus Field to take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
