Slippery Rock lacrosse solidified their spot at No. 1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West after defeating Seton Hill University in a close 11-10 game Wednesday on their home field.

The Rock is currently undefeated in the PSAC play with nine straight wins and only one loss in the season overall.

The nationally ranked No. 12 team dominated the first half. Isabella Buono scored the first goal for the White and Green in the first five minutes of the game. Goals two and three also came from Buono.

Seton Hill, while remaining scoreless for all of the first quarter, got their first point on the board towards the end of the second, though not before SRU could tally three more points. Their last goal of the half was delivered by Leora Owings and assisted by Eryn Little.

The Rock came out of the half just as strong, with Abby Fink scoring her first goal of the night in under two minutes at the start of the third quarter. The Rock’s next goal came a minute later from Grace Rotter. The junior attacker has tallied 35 goals this season so far.

With the help of Reagan Richeson, Fink scored for the White and Green with under ten minutes left in the third.

The Griffins closed out the third quarter with two goals scored by Skylar Orlowski. One from in the circle and the other from the right wing.

Fink scored her last goal of the night and the last goal for The Rock in the first minute of the game.

Seton Hill made a close comeback by being able to throw out seven more goals, the first coming just a minute after Fink’s by Brooklyn Miller. Skylar got three more goals under her belt for the Griffins, but her efforts fell short, and the game ended in Slippery Rock’s favor.

The team turns their focus to the last game of the season when they go up against Lock Haven University on Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium before they head to the PSAC Semifinals in May.
