Rock comes up short at Bobby McGraw Memorial Game

The Rock finishes their home campaign against Edinboro

The Rock welcomed family and friends of the late Bobby McGraw to their home finale. McGraw coached The Rock from 2014 until his passing in 2022.

McGraw totaled 82 wins in his seven seasons as head coach (the 2021 season was canceled due to COVID-19).

The Rock entered their home finale with a 2-21 overall record and 2-18 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. SRU was coming off of a difficult 57-42 loss to rival Indiana University (Pa.) their last time out.

The Edinboro University Fighting Scots arrived at Morrow Field House with a 15-10 overall record and 13-7 record in conference play. The winner of the matchup would hold bragging rights in the all-time series. The all-time record between these two teams was deadlocked at 57 apiece.

Freshman Regan Atkins led the Green and White in scoring with 17 points. The guard passed Robin Blalock and moved into third place all-time among freshmen in SRU history. She now sits behind only Becky Siembak and Kory Fielitz.

Deryn Moye continued her hot streak with 13 points, four assists and two steals. Nine of her 13 points came from beyond the arc with three makes on six attempts.

Endya Robinson added seven points but brought down a game-high 11 rebounds, two of which were on the offensive end. This would not be enough as the Fighting Scots prevailed 60-47.

The Rock controlled the first half as they led for 13:06 of the first 20 minutes, but Edinboro stole the lead and took a two-point advantage into halftime.

The Rock would not see the lead again. A 22-point outburst from the Fighting Scots in the third quarter put the game out of reach. Morgan Gentile led all scorers with 20 points, and Hayley Sims followed with 16 of her own to secure the victory for Edinboro.

The Rock closed out their season on Saturday in Erie, as they visited Mercyhurst University.
