Slippery Rock pulled out their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win of the 2023 season as they dominated in action against Lock Haven University. The Rock hosted the Bald Eagles in their first home game since they got back from their spring break trip.

Lauren Searles opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game as Slippery Rock jumped to a quick 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Rachel Mahoney scored her first of the game. Their lead dissipated in less than a minute. Lock Haven’s Josey Shaffer, Abby Katrinak and Nadia Baskot each scored and took the lead.

Neither team scored again until Brooke Wisniewski got The Rock on the board for the third time in the game. The tally evened up the score at three, and thirty seconds later, Slippery Rock got another goal. This time, it was from Charleigh Rondeau.

Searles continued her dominant stretch in the game as she scored five total goals. Her second came four minutes in the second quarter, but Lock Haven answered once again to tie it. Slippery Rock walked into the break with a one-goal lead.

The Rock opened the scoring in the second half and extended their lead to 9-6. The Rock did not surrender the lead again.

In the second half, the Green and White took over the scoring. Searles, Mahoney, Wisniewski, Modin and Frankowski each recorded a goal in the second half. The game served as a nice bounceback after they opened up league play with a loss against No. 19 Seton Hill University.

The team will square off with Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday as they look to claim their second PSAC win. The last time they faced the Crimson Hawks at home, they dropped the game 12-11. The team looks to flip the script this time as they aim to continue their strong start.
