Rock women roll to victory in home meet

The Rock’s women’s cross country team hosted their first meet at their new home course in the Lawrence County Fairgrounds on Saturday and took first place as they won the Bill Lennox Invitational.

SRU won in a blow out fashion with seven runners in the top ten winning in team standings with 19 points. Bloomsburg University finished in second with 55 points and Wheeling Jesuit University in third with 63 points.

Senior Sabrina Palmieri lead Slippery Rock and finished second place in 24:55. Junior Jill Norris was right behind Palmieri and finished fourth in 26:02. The Rock tied up 4-8 as junior Emily Johnson grabbed fifth in 26:20 and junior Kacey Raible slid into sixth at 26:27 just over teammate freshman Julianna Stevens in 26:29 for seventh.

Senior Madison Przicina and junior Hannah Kenawell rounded out SRU’s domination on Saturday finishing eighth in 26:32 and tenth in 26:53.

The women have an off week before hosting the Rock Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, Oct. 20th at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh at the Bob O’Connor Golf Course.
