Men’s cross country finishes fourth at Edinboro over the weekend

The Slippery Rock University men’s cross country team finished in fourth place with 119 team points this past weekend when the group traveled to Edinboro University for the Doug Watts Open.

Taking first place was the home team Edinboro who finished with 23 team points, with Shippensburg University coming in second with 44 points while Indiana University (Pa.) came in third with 79 points, and Seton Hill University rounding out the top five with 130 points.

Senior runner Josh Rader stole the show for The Rock with a 20th place finish in the 8,000-meter course with a time of 27:09.  Behind him was junior runner Trenton Yoder with a time of 27:44 to put him in 28th place.

Sophomore Jon Snyder came in 33rd place with a time of 27:55, with freshman teammate Noah Yake finishing directly behind in 34th place, with a time of 28:02. Senior Andrew Maxwell finished not far behind in 38th place with a time of 28:22, while freshman Ben Buckless finished in 44th place with a time of 28:44 and freshman Alex Dickson finished not far behind in 46th place with a time of 28:55.

Redshirt sophomore Keegan Beard placed 48th with a time of 29:03, while freshman Le’Shawn Huff finished 59th with a time of 30:33 to cap off the Green and White runners.

The Rock will be able to take this weekend off before their next meet the following weekend when the team travels to Lock Haven University for the Lock Haven Invitational on Sep 22.
