A portion of the Slippery Rock University women’s indoor track and field team traveled to the Edinboro Invitational Friday, recording three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks.

Sophomore Melissa Rains paced The Rock by winning the 800-meter run in a personal best time of 2:18.83. That time is the fifth fastest in the PSAC this season.

Junior Megan Matrisciano and freshman Julia Schuler both hit the PSAC mark in the pole vault. Matrisciano placed second with a season-best clearance of 3.30 meters, while Schuler finished in fourth place with a clearance of 3.15 meters.

The Rock only sent nineteen athletes to Edinboro, with the majority of the Slippery Rock team competed at the Kent State Tune Up on Saturday in the final meet before the PSAC Championship meet, which will be hosted by Edinboro on Feb. 27 and 28.
