December 12th- University Police are investigating a report of a bicycle that was stolen between December 12, 2025 and January 19, 2026 outside of North Hall.
January 1st- While on patrol, University Police noticed a sign knocked over in the Campus Success Center parking lot. After further investigation, it was discovered that a maintenance worker had backed into the sign. The supervisor of facilities was notified.
January 2nd- University Police received a call from an individual who stated that a juvenile runaway was staying with someone in Building D. Police checked and found that there was no one staying on campus with the name provided. The New Castle Police Department is handling further investigation of the juvenile runaway.
January 7th- University Police received a call from a concerned parent who stated that they hadn’t heard from or seen their child, who was supposed to be in the Slippery Rock area. Police referred the investigation to Slippery Rock Borough Police who eventually located the missing child. The child was okay and the parent was notified.
January 13th- University Police are investigating a report of cash taken from a vehicle parked in the East Lake parking lot.
January 15th- University Police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a university fleet vehicle that occurred in the Bailey Library staff parking lot.
January 18th- University Police received an elevator emergency phone activation from North Hall where an individual stated they were stuck inside. Maintenance was notified to respond. The individual then stated that the elevator started working and they were able to get out. Police advised the desk attendant not to allow anyone to use the elevator until it is checked by maintenance personnel.
January 19th- University Police received a call from an individual stating that a parked vehicle near the water tower hill had been running for five hours. Upon the arrival of the responding officer, it was discovered that the vehicle was not running, but its lights were on. Contact was made with the vehicle owner’s parents, who advised that they would contact their child to handle the situation. No further action was taken by police.
January 19th- University Police received a call from an individual in Building E who stated that their ex-boyfriend had entered their room and stolen their Xbox. During the investigation, it was discovered that the individual’s roommate had allowed the ex-boyfriend into the room, where he took the Xbox. It was determined that both parties had paid for the console and that this was a civil matter that did not require police intervention.
January 22nd- University Police assisted Slippery Rock Borough Police with a search warrant on West Water Street. University Police stood by with the parent of the renter while the borough officers conducted the search warrant.
January 22nd- Police received a report of suspicious activity from a staff member in the Swope Music Building who felt another individual was acting in a way that made them uncomfortable. The incident is currently under investigation.
January 22nd- Police received a call from maintenance personnel reporting that individuals were walking on the frozen pond off of East Lake Lane. The responding officers arrived on the scene, met with the individuals, and told them not to walk on the ice.
