Drivers along Route 108 have noticed the absence of freshly painted road lines despite recent paving work, raising questions about when normal traffic markings will return.

Tina Gibbs, Community Relations Manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, explained the process behind the delay. “We have one paint crew that rotates between our five counties, covering an extensive amount of miles each year for line painting,” she said. “They wait for the county to finish the roadwork that needs to be done prior to painting. Butler County has recently finished or will soon be finishing those jobs. So 108 will be receiving lines. It’s just a matter of getting everything aligned with finished jobs, weather, and the paint crew transfer. But there will indeed be lines going back onto 108.”

The work on Route 108 was part of the county’s cyclical maintenance schedule. “The road was painted on Monday. It was on the paving schedule for this year,” Gibbs said. “The county works on a sectional rotation throughout the county for roadway maintenance, so there was not a special project or extension of a project involved with this job.”

While the delay has caused some concern among drivers, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation assures residents that the absence of lines is only temporary. Once Butler County completes its scheduled maintenance work and the paint crew is available, Route 108 will receive its fresh markings as planned, restoring both safety and clarity to the roadway.
