
Slippery Rock tennis took a 7-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan College before heading to Fairmont State University for a 5-2 victory over the weekend.
Georgie Lancaster and Dari Sakhanova both won each of their singles and doubles matchups en route to outscoring their opponents 12-2 between Friday and Sunday.
Match one
Everything came up White and Green at the SRU Tennis Courts on Friday. The Rock swept the doubles portion with Amaia Balaguer Brau and Tina Slovak shutting out Gabby Dooling and Hailey Banda 6-0.
Sakhanova and Lancaster followed close behind with a 6-2 victory before Alissia Kivi and Nicole Kempton rounded out the final doubles game 7-5.
The singles matches were more of the same, with SRU winning every set of each flight. Sakhanova earned the first singles point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Slovak and Lancaster’s wins were similarly dominant, with both athletes earning 6-2, 6-0 victories.
Balaguer Brau, Kivi and Kempton rounded out the 7-0 win by earning their own two-set victories.
Match two
The Rock carried their success into Sunday at the FSU Tennis courts in Fairmont, W. Va. to the tune of a 5-2 win.
SRU fell behind after dropping two of the doubles flights, though Sakhanova and Lancaster won the third flight.
The duo each claimed 6-2, 6-2 victories in singles play, finish off their unbeaten weekends as part of a singles portion where The Rock almost took every flight.
Balaguer Brau, Kivi and Slovak each took care of business in singles play to overtake Fairmont.
Laura Maciel claimed Fairmont State’s lone singles win by opponent retirement.
The White and Green get back on the court with their conference opener against rival Indiana University (Pa.) on Saturday at the SRU Tennis Courts.
