Every year, Halloween is a popular celebration known for people dressing up as their favorite characters, eating candy and spending time with friends.

Halloween is officially on Oct. 31, though individuals have already started getting in the spirit, whether that is through decorating their space or preparing their costumes.

The Rocket recently conducted a survey to see how SRU is spending their Halloween.

Many students expressed their excitement for the holiday, and 100% of the students who took the survey said they enjoy celebrating Halloween.

Students then answered what plans they have for Halloween. Many individuals discussed hanging out with friends, going to parties, dressing up, watching movies and passing out candy.

“My friends and I are going to play games while watching horror movies and eating way, way too much candy,” an SRU student said.

“Get dressed up, go to a party, then leave early to watch Halloween movies and eat candy all night,” another student said.

The majority of students who took the survey said they will be dressing up for the holiday. Individuals also discussed who they will be dressing up as this year.

“I am being Glinda from Wicked and also doing a Powerpuff Girls costume with my two friends,” a student said.

“My boyfriend and I are being vampires,” another student said.

Various costumes were mentioned, some including a minion, police officer, mermaid and Coraline.

Students were then asked to predict what costumes they feel will be popular this year.

A lot of individuals predicted that costumes from the film Wicked and Kpop Demon Hunters will be most common.

“I think I will see lots of Wicked costumes this year,” a student said.

Students shared what their favorite Halloween candies, and the most popular response was Reese’s.

Some other responses include Airheads, Twix, Hershey Kisses and KitKats.

Students were asked what they feel makes Halloween so enjoyable. Many responses included students being able to hang out with friends, getting to be creative with costumes and eating candy.

According to the survey, students’ favorite Halloween activities include watching movies, pumpkin carving, visiting pumpkin patches and haunted houses.

Various students mentioned that Hocus Pocus and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown are their favorite Halloween movies.

Students shared what they are looking forward to most about Halloween this year.

“It’s my LAST COLLEGE HALLOWEEN so I’m gonna make it a good one no matter what,” one student said.

Others look forward to having fun, spending time with family and/or friends, seeing everyone’s costumes and, of course, enjoying the candy.
