
Slippery Rock men’s track and field competed in the John Papa Invitational on their home track and walked away with 11 event wins.
Matthew Crow led the charge for The Rock, clocking in three event wins in the 110-meter hurdles, 4×100-meter relay, and 4×400-meter relay. The senior is a four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion and a six-time All-PSAC honoree.
Micah Good was the first to get an event win for the night with a time of 49.31 in the 400-meter dash.
Four Rock athletes finished in the top 15 for the 1500-meter run, with Joey Cintavey crossing the finish line first in 3:59.56. Ryan Corbitt, Michael Gauntner, and Brady Hoffman also placed.
Troy Hart and Dom Bumblis placed in the 5000-meter run. Hart came in first just seconds before a runner from Allegheny College. Bumblis placed twelfth with a time of 17:00.11.
Along with Crow’s first place win in the 110-meter hurdles, he and Benny Whitaker, AJ Virata, and Kanye Thompson took the win in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 41.06.
Crow also led Cade Adams, Good, and Kadin Johnson to a win in the 4×400-meter relay. Danick Hinkson, Trey Huha, Camerin Lindsey, and Tyler Morosky secured second place in the same event for the White and Green.
Rock men secured six of the top ten spots in pole vault. Andrew Layton, Dan Hyatt, and Logan Gossard took the top three.
The top four out of five in the triple jump were clinched by Ian James, Zach Duda, Jack Thomas, and Jason Alderson.
Zach Gose, Seaton Wozniak, Andrew Demko, and Ryan Oleksy took all but first in the top five in discus throw.
Seven athletes finished in the top 10 for the hammer throw, with Gose leading the charge with a toss of 59.11 meters.
The last event of the night ended with an event win given by Josh Kingerski in javelin with a throw of 57.36 meters. Rock athlete Joseph Reed came in second just three meters short of Kingerski.
Slippery Rock competes again at the two-day Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg University on April 25 and 26.
