SRSGA held a formal meeting on Monday, November 24 at 5pm in the Smith Student Center to hear commission reports, approve funding requests and welcome newly-appointed senators. The meeting also included updates from the Green Fund Advisory Board and an open forum discussion on academic concerns within the College of Engineering and Science.

President’s Commission on Race & Ethnic Diversity Report

Senator Ogoreuc presented updates from her role as the SGA representative on the President’s Commission on Race & Ethnic Diversity. On Sept. 26, she attended the group’s virtual meeting to introduce herself.

“On September 26, 2025, I attended the Zoom meeting… where I introduced myself and had the opportunity to meet several of the board members,” she said.

During the session, the commission outlined its priorities for next year.

“The commission shared its five primary goals for the 2026 year, all focused on strengthening racial and ethnic inclusion at SRU,” Ogoreuc said.

The commission outlined several priorities for the upcoming year, focusing on strengthening racial and ethnic inclusion across campus. These goals include expanding leadership and mentorship opportunities for students from marginalized backgrounds, and enhancing community-building efforts among faculty and staff.

Additional initiatives aim to bolster support for first-generation students of color and create more structured opportunities for campus-wide dialogue on race and ethnicity. The commission also plans to continue its collaboration with the Eradicate Hate initiative, bringing in guest speakers who represent a wide range of perspectives.

Senator Ogoreuc added a personal reflection on her involvement.

“I personally connected with this initiative and volunteered to be involved because of how strongly the mission speaks to me,” she said.

She emphasized her ongoing commitment to the work, stating that she will continue to serve as a bridge between SGA and the commission to ensure that student voices, particularly those from marginalized racial and ethnic backgrounds, are heard and supported.

Funding Requests

During the open forum, both men’s rugby and men’s club basketball spoke about their new initiative requests. Representatives from men’s rugby outlined their need for travel accommodations to support their upcoming national appearance, while men’s club basketball requested additional funds to cover their required league fee.

Recognized Student Organizations

SRSGA recognized several new student organizations, including Her Campus (Her Campus SRU), Irish Dance Club, Ski and Snowboard Club (SSCSRU) and Slippery Rock University Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology (SRU PAECT).

Inducted Senators

Motions to approve SRSGA’s newly inducted senators passed uncontested. SRSGA approved Asher Allen as a senator of the College of Liberal Arts and Conner Grasser as a senator of the College of Education.
