SRSGA formally met on Monday, April 14 at 5 p.m. to discuss the results of the Student Life Survey.

Student Life Survey Results

Vice President Annalese Isenberg and the Student and Academic Affairs committee reported the results from a Student Life Survey.

502 students responded to the survey, allowing SRSGA to collect data on topics such as academic advisors, dining concerns and campus safety.

Overall, students are very satisfied with their academic advisors and class content. Many reported that their classes are effectively preparing them for their future fields.

One of the main concerns reported in the survey was the need for more options to accommodate various dietary needs, such as those with lactose intolerance and gluten allergies.

Another concern regarding dining was that the hours of operation of dining halls do not encompass enough time for all students’ schedules.

Overall, students believe Grubhub is an adequate application and is useful for dining on the go.

Technology data showed that over 75% of students have difficulties with Wi-Fi connectivity. Other technological difficulties included registration, CORE use and meal swipes.

Students largely want more communication regarding the standards of 2-hour delays.

Campus safety data shows that students mostly feel safe when on campus. However, there is a noticeable drop during nighttime hours, especially in upper campus areas.

A majority of students did not experience any incidents of violence, bias, unhealthy use of drugs or alcohol, or hazing. Those who did largely selected that they chose not to intervene.

A majority of students did not witness discrimination on campus, but those who did reported gender and sexual orientation to be the biggest factors in these incidents. Overall, students did not report these occasions because they did not know how.

SRSGA sees the need to educate students on the importance of reporting and intervening in these situations. They are coming up with ideas on possible events to educate and raise awareness on these topics that will be interactive and pique students’ interest.

Nearly 65% of students, when asked what DEI resources and buildings are available on campus, said they did not know the Frederick Douglass Institute.

Overall, students are very satisfied with SRSGA resources.

Student services data shows that students do not think it is easy to schedule with the Health Center.

Moving forward, the SAA committee shared possible solutions to concerns that students have.

Some of these ideas included adding more dietary options to dining halls, prioritizing Wi-Fi improvements, and trying to simplify and inform students on the new registration process.

They would also like to work with DEI resources on campus to advertise their accessibility to students more, and develop a more streamlined discrimination reporting process.

Regarding student services, there are ideas to improve the Health Center’s appointment scheduling processes and increase capacity during peak times. SRSGA noted that these issues could improve as staffing at the Health Center increases.

Miscellaneous

The 2025-2026 budget was approved. President Ella Bloom expressed satisfaction with the finance committee, stating they did a good job of being diligent in preparing the budget.

The SRSGA April 28 formal meeting has been cancelled. New senators will be sworn in on May 5.
