Slippery Rock Borough Council convened on April 15 at 7 p.m. to discuss grants and upcoming events.
DCED Multimodal grant
The Borough continues to work on its grant application, which is focused on streetlights. They plan to incorporate solar lighting, aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.
Slippery Rock University also applied for a grant focused on sidewalks.
Miscellaneous
The Borough will be hiring a part-time landscape laborer for four months at $18 an hour, 30 hours a week. Applications will open soon.
Ladies Night will be held Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. to support the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team.
The Independence Day festival will be held on July 4 from 4 to 6 p.m., with Main Street closed from 3 to 11 p.m. The host organizations are looking for vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to help organize the event.
Council member Alex Tuten reported that Shrek the Musical was completely sold out for each show.
