Here is what to know about the 2025 SRSGA Election

The 2025 Slippery Rock Student Government Association (SRSGA) Election opens Monday with over forty positions up for grabs on the ballot.

SRU students are mounting campaigns following Thursday’s debates and leading up to the opening of voting forms on Monday at 8 a.m. Voting will be open on SRSGA’s CORE page until Wednesday at 5 p.m. Those elected will serve a one year term from the fall 2025 semester through spring 2026.

Voting information

All SRU students are eligible to vote in the SRSGA elections through SRSGA’s CORE page. Graduating seniors are permitted to vote if they have paid their student activity fee for the spring semester.

Results will be announced at 1 p.m. on April 10 at a location to be determined by SRSGA.

Listed below are the Official SRSGA Ballot candidates who successfully filed election packets. Write-ins are permitted to participate assuming they meet position qualifications.

Executive Board candidates:

Each Executive Board position is exclusive, with only one candidate able to occupy a position at once.

Qualifications for the executive board are as follows: Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, first semester sophomore by beginning of 2025 fall semester, full-time student as defined by SRU, have attended two SRSGA Senate meetings and one Financial Affairs Committee meeting prior to announcement of election winners, may not participate in study abroad longer than 28 days while in office, may not hold a student teaching position, must be in their second full semester at SRU before term commences, must disclose to student body prior to election any prospective or current executive positions at other organizations.

The number of seats per senator positions varies and is listed before the title of the position.

Qualifications for Senator are as follows: Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, have attended one SRSGA Senate meeting prior to the announcement of election winners, may not participate in study abroad longer than 28 days while in office, may not hold a student teaching position.

Election campaign guidelines

Write-in campaigns are permitted to run but are disqualified from participation in the official SRSGA debates and will not appear on official ballots.

Candidates are also limited to spending $50 on campaign promotional items. Receipts of expenditures must be kept and submitted per SRSGA election guidelines. Clubs and organizations are also barred from spending more than $50 on promotional items to back a candidate.

However, candidates are permitted to use free advertising resources provided by the Office for Student Engagement and Leadership.

Social media usage for campaign purposes must be registered with the SRSGA Election Commission 24 hours prior to its launching.

Candidates are also expected to follow all SRU guidelines, such as the chalking policy. Additionally, all infractions are subject to the Election Commission’s discretion.

Hayden Schultz
Hayden Schultz is a first semester senior from Zelienople, Pennsylvania. He started at The Rocket as a contributor in the fall of 2023. He will graduate in fall 2024 with a degree in strategic communication with a concentration in multimedia journalism, minoring in political science and American politics. Following contributions to The Rocket in fall of 2023, he took on the roles of Assistant News Editor and News Editor in 2024 before being voted Editor-in-Chief in spring 2025. Hayden’s work appeared in the Butler Eagle and the New Castle News, the latter of which he interned last summer.
