The music scene recently has been filled with feuds crossing numerous genres. Most notably, Eminem versus Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has been a topic of conversation, with people taking sides on who is better and which rapper dissed the other harder.

Eminem began his career in 1998. Countless chart topping hit singles and albums, Eminem has been producing content and most recently dropped his tenth studio album. This album, Kamikaze, has 13 singles and includes the “diss track” toward MGK which got people talking.

Machine Gun Kelly, or MGK, began his career in 2010. MGK has risen in fame in his 8 years of making music. Though he only had two studio albums, MGK has had a lot of hit singles including “Bad Things” with Camila Cabello which made it to the number four spot on the US Billboard Top 100.

Now the beef between Eminem and MGK can be dated back to 2012 with a single tweet.

“OK so I just saw a picture of Eminem’s daughter…and I have to say, she is hot as f*** in the most respectful way possible cuz Em is king.”

Six years after Kelly tweeted this, Eminem made his response known in the track “Not Alike” featuring Royce da 5’9. This song, as well as the rest of the album, dropped on August 31. People heard the song and knew immediately it was a verbal diss on MGK.

“If you wanna come at me with a sub, Machine Gun/And I’m talkin’ to you, but you already know who the f*** you are Kelly/I don’t use sublimes and sure as f*** don’t sneak-diss/But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie.”

Three days later, on September 3rd, MGK dropped a song titled “Rap Devil” obviously a diss track named after Eminem’s song from 2013, “Rap God.” Unlike Eminem’s track, the entire song is a calculated diss on the “Rap God.”

“…the real Slim Shady can’t stand up,” “Already f***** one rapper’s girl this week, Don’t make me call Kim.”

Not too long after this song went viral, Kelly tweeted, once again clearly calling out Eminem.

“Standing up for not just myself buy my generation. I’m doing the same s*** you did back in the day.”

There’s still conversations happening on what Eminem’s response will be to Kelly’s verbal lashing. Will it be another diss that is fully aimed at MGK? Or will he let it slide and continue on his own thing?
