
The Rock found success in Raleigh, N.C. despite only sending a portion of their roster to the Raleigh Relays on Friday and Saturday. The meet also included Division I schools.
The White and Green tallied a top-ten finish in the 4×100-meter relay when the team of Matthew Crow, Kanye Thompson, AJ Virata and Benny Whitaker broke SRU’s school record with a 40.50 second time.
The time landed them in sixth place and was good for an NCAA provisional mark as well.
Igims finished in 14th place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:19.02. She earned an NCAA provisional mark and broke her own SRU record in the process.
Crow also placed within the top 35 in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles, earning a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying mark in both events in the process.
He finished the 110-meter hurdles at 34th place in 14.83 seconds. His 400-meter hurdles time of 54.38 seconds was good for 27th place. He was followed by Owen Rindler and Cade Adams in the event, both at just over two seconds behind.
Thompson competed in the 100-meter dash as well, earning a PSAC auto mark for his 10.78-second, 27th place finish.
Virata followed Thompson in the 100-meter dash, coming in 36th at 10.81 seconds, also good for a PSAC mark. Whitaker finished under a second later at 11.16.
Virata also earned a PSAC mark for his 21.68-second, 47th place 200-meter dash. He was once again followed by Whitaker, under a second behind at 22.34.
Kadin Johnson rounded out the men’s portion of SRU’s time at the meet with a 50.31-second 400-meter dash.
Outside of Igims, Regan Johnson and Chaley Younkin competed in three total events for the rest of The Rock’s women’s portion.
Johnson ran in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, finishing in 12.68 and 25.56 seconds respectively.
Youngkin finished the 100-meter hurdles in 15.51 seconds.
The Rock track and field now looks forward to a home meet, the Dave Labor Invitational, next Friday and Saturday.
