Ever since I was a child, I would say I haven’t grown more passionate about anything than sports. To me, there is nothing better than going to a baseball game, particularly a Pirates game. The smell of the fresh cut grass, watching batting practice, and cheering on the Buccos have been among the fondest memories of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love all other sports too, but it’s kind of difficult to broadcast my love for both the Browns and Cavs in a Pittsburgh dominated area. Entering my freshman year, I knew that I wanted to get involved with the Rocket. My first assignment was women’s Cross Country, which was a bit out of my comfort zone. But by the end of their season, I found a new appreciation for the sport. Entering the spring semester, I learned I would be covering baseball which was obviously in my comfort zone. I loved covering the baseball team, and there was nothing more satisfying than seeming my name printed above those articles, and sending those clippings home to Mom. As a Public Relations major, I would like to get a job in sports someday as a PR rep. I’m very excited to be on the Rocket staff as the Assistant Sports Editor, and I’m looking forward to covering another exciting season of Rock Athletics!
