I once read a quote by Albert Einstein that said, “I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious.”  I relate to Einstein in this way because all that I am certain of is my endless curiosity.  When I entered Slippery Rock as a freshman just a year ago, I never chose journalism as a future path or major, it simply came to me and I have never looked back.  I am the inquisitive friend, the one who asks multiple questions and interrupts one’s stories just to learn the little details that, in reality, aren’t important.  To me, however, they matter.  I think that words shake the world because what one says and how they say it matters.  I hope that what I write matters to at least some of you, the same way that some writers have changed viewpoints for me.  Over the years, I have been blessed with opportunities to write for local and regional newspapers which have allowed my horizons to grow in ways that I cannot explain.  I love taking risks with my writing and am always pushing myself to take my pieces one step further.  This is how I found myself applying for the position as the Assistant Campus Life Editor for The Rocket.  At first the thought of throwing myself out there petrified me, but then I realized I absolutely had to try it.  I began to love the idea of walking up to someone that I’d never met before and asking them to help me create a story out of our combined knowledge.  I think that teamwork is essential in order to generate something great and I am so excited to see what amazing new ideas The Rocket can create this year.
