“I have never seen a city that flies the colors of their city like they do here. Their black and gold is our red, white and blue.” – Channing Tatum When you grow up so close to Pittsburgh, it’s almost expected that you understand and love sports. I never wanted to be one of those girls that couldn’t sit down and talk about the game with the guys, so I made sure that I paid attention and knew what I was talking about. During my sophomore year, the former sports editor, Tim Durr, asked if I would be interested in writing articles for The Rocket. After a year of contributing articles, I noticed a significant improvement in my writing and I decided to apply for the Assistant Sports Editor position. When I was chosen for the position, I was both surprised and grateful to be made a part of The Rocket Staff. The Sports Editor, Madeline Williams, and I make up the first all-female sports staff the Rocket has ever had. I continue to improve my writing and knowledge of sports every week in order to one day get a job in the sports industry.
