Apartments upgraded for 2009 school year

Campus Side Apartments is currently undergoing an expansion program that consists of increasing the number of single occupancy apartments to 47 and renovating some of the existing apartments. When Campus Side was constructed in 1992, its first building, now known as the South Building, had 27 four-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments, 27 two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments, four one-bedroom apartments and one efficiency apartment.

Organizations promote importance of election, register voters

In previous years, an average of 700 SRU students registered to vote. This year there has been a major improvement, as approximately 2,100 students have registered in light of the rapidly approaching presidential election. Oct. 6 is the deadline to register to vote, and several organizations around campus have made sure students have had plenty of opportunities to easily register.

McCain, Obama refrain from exchanging blows during first debate

Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain challenged each other in the first of three presidential debates held at the University of Mississippi on Sept. 26. The candidates focused on addressing issues on the economy, foreign policy and national security.

Incident proves bikers should be cautious while cycling on campus

Biking may seem like a quick alternative to walking to class, but for one student, this simple mode of transportation quickly created a frightening experience. On Thursday, Oct. 2, right before the close of common hour, Justin Brown, a 19-year-old sophomore communication major, was eyewitness to a male student, whose name could not be obtained, on a bike who hit a female student in the Quad.

Co-Op approves additional bus to be used on election day

The following are some highlights from the Cooperative Activities Board meeting Thursday: • The Co-Op Board approved the request for a second bus to take students to the polls on Election Day. One bus will run from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the second bus will run from 12 p.
