Even though the college football season is still months away, Slippery Rock took the gridiron last Friday for the annual Green and White game.

The Green team managed to pull out a narrow 7-3 victory on a late fourth quarter touchdown pass.

The White team had led the entire game, but lost thanks in part to a series of missed scoring opportunities.

Fourth string quarterback Bill Cefaratti, a sophomore, connected with freshman Leo Cheaton with a 1:38 left to put the Green team ahead.

The winning drive relied heavily on the 31 rushing yards of freshman Sayquan Mitchell-Scott.

On the ensuing possession, the White team fumbled and the Green team's sophomore Karl Justus recovered it to seal the victory.

But the scrimmage was more than just a friendly competition between the two sides, as both teams dished out the hits, including one that sidelined one of the Rock's potential starting quarterbacks.

With 25.1 seconds left in the first quarter, redshirt freshman Brandon Frohnapple was hit by junior Tyler Boudreau and was unable to play for the rest of the game. He suffered a sprained knee and will be out for roughly two weeks.

Frohnapple had been both team's starting quarterback in the first quarter. He finished the game 7 of 12 for 37 yards.

The injury put a damper on what was a physical and spirited contest.

Rock Head Coach George Mihalik said he talked to the referees before the game and said the quarterbacks were live.

"I told the officials before the game I wanted the quarterbacks to be fair game," Mihalik said. "But the defensive players used their discretion if they came off the blind side to pull up a little bit and not to hurt a teammate.
