Obama the best candidate
Issue date: 4/18/08 Section: Rocket Letters
To the editor:
As college students I think it is important that we are involved in our nation's politics.
For the past eight years many of our voices have gone unheard, but that time has ended.
On April 22, the Democratic Primary will take place. Not only will we be electing the Democratic candidate, but in all likelihood, the next president of the United States.
I think that no matter which candidate you intend to vote for, it is important to get involved. This is a privilege that many of us take lightly or ignore completely. I think many people choose not to vote because they do not think any of the candidates can represent them well or even care about what they think. Barack Obama could be this candidate for many of these people. He is a poised and charismatic leader who is attempting to unite our country with a message of change. What makes his politics of change any different from the countless other candidates who have come before him?
Barack Obama has expressed what he intends to do to make this change happen. It is not a like-it-or-leave-it plan, but a plan that involves crossing political ideologies. He wants the people to work together for the good of the entire country. He concentrates on the needs of the people, and the many, not just the few. I think our student body needs to support Barack Obama and help him bring about the positive change our country so desperately needs.
