Another week has come and gone, and the Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team is still searching for its first win.

SRU suffered another setback on March 21, losing 23-2 on the road to the Bloomsburg University Huskies.

Freshman midfielder Alison Rusnak scored the Rock's first goal in the opening period, one that saw sophomore goalie Ashley Winkelspecht make 10 saves against a potent Bloomsburg offense that registered a whopping 31 shots in the stanza.

In the second period, sophomore goalie Sara Williams recorded three saves. Senior center Jayme Timmons added the Rock's second goal.

The loss dropped the Rock's record to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

On Tuesday, the team returned to N. Kerr Thompson stadium to play the Shippensburg Red Raiders in what resulted in a 19-1 loss.

Rock junior Caitlin O'Brien's goal gave SRU the early lead three minutes into the game.

Shippensburg's Brita Paul notched a goal barely 30 seconds later to bring the score to 1-1, after which both teams settled into a stalemate that saw the Rock defense hold strong against a relentless Raider offense for eight minutes.

During that stretch, Winkelspecht registered several of her 14 saves before Shippensburg took the lead with 19 minutes left in the period.

The Rock seemed to wear down late, as the Red Raiders scored four goals in the final minutes of the period to make the score 11-1 at intermission.

The loss brought the Rock to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the PSAC.
