The Rock finally made its home debut Tuesday afternoon against Gannon University, sweeping the doubleheader by the scores of 9-5 and 4-3 behind a hot offense and a tough bullpen.

"It was good to get out on the field, we made some mistakes just because we were inactive so long," Rock Head Coach Jeff Messer said.

Cold weather and gusting winds did not prevent the Rock from pounding out a combined 22 hits against the Gannon pitching staff.

In the first game, the Rock got off to a hot start when sophomore catcher Matt Adams crushed a three-run homer to deep centerfield and put the Rock up 3-0.

"It felt pretty good to get a hold of that one, I had a pretty good idea it was gone," Adams said.

In the top of the second, Gannon took advantage of two errors by the Rock infield, which led to a Gannon three-spot to tie the game.

The Rock responded in the third when Adams scored on an M.J. Parsons double.

In the Gannon fourth, two walks and a hit batter led to another run to tie the game once again.

In the Rock's halves of the fourth and fifth innings, the team added two runs to retake the lead. In the sixth, the club put Gannon away, adding three more runs.

Adams finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored, while junior right fielder Scott Bender went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Sophomore designated hitter Jacob Oswalt also finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
