The performance of one of the Rock's women runners stood out because of how she performed in light of her past struggles.
Junior Jaime Wright finished third overall with a time of 23:59. Wright's performance was impressive because of how she's progressed in the last two seasons.
In her freshman year, Wright finished in 76th place at the PSAC Championships. Then as a sophomore, she did not run in the championships because she was not one of SRU's top nine female runners. Only the top nine from each team participate in the PSAC championships.
But after a year of hard work, Wright earned her way back into the top nine. After cracking the top nine, Wright has continued to run solid races all season. Wright managed to place third in both the Slippery Rock and Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitationals.
While Wright's performance was impressive, junior Katie Bork had yet another consistent performance, finishing second for the Rock and eighth overall with a time of 24:25. Bork is another of the Rock women who may have a chance of qualifying for nationals individually because of her strong performances. Along with her eighth-place finish at the PSAC championships, Bork was the Rock's top female runner at the SRU and IUP Invitationals.
Rounding out the scoring for the Rock women were Leslie Kramer, Sarah Thompson and Rebecca Younger who finished 23rd, 38th, and 40th, respectively.
The Rock will next be competing Saturday at the NCAA Division II East Regional meet at Lock Haven University.
