Consistency and momentum seemed to be the keys for the Rock volleyball team's 4-0 mark in the Tiffin tournament last weekend.

Unfortunately for the Rock, those factors didn't seem nearly as strong in the team's 3-1 loss against Edinboro on Tuesday.

With the loss, the Rock stands at 17-12 overall and 1-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Slippery Rock's 4-0 mark at Tiffin helped raised the Rock's confidence level.

Junior Anastasia Urbanik led the team in kills at the Tiffin tournament with 49 in the four matches. She also had 40 digs, 10 blocks and five service aces.

"The weekend was a definite energy booster, and a huge confidence lift for us," Urbanik said.

This was the first tournament this year that the Rock won all four games.

Entering the match-up against No. 2 regionally ranked Edinboro, Slippery Rock had the confidence, but just not enough to get the job done.

"We needed to finish games and we just didn't do it," Coach Laurie Lokash said.

Slippery Rock lost the first two games by identical 30-27 scores. Both games were marked by continuous momentum changes.

The second game seemed to be one that the Rock would have snatched, holding the lead until the 27-27 mark. At that point, Edinboro scored three consecutive points to end the match.

Urbanik said the team is still struggling to finish, which showed in the first two matches.
