After graduation, Mumau said he got a job as an assistant park manager for Presque Isle State Park in Erie.
Then he got hired to have a seasonal position at the Department of Conservation and National Resources at Bureau State Parks. After that, he became an Environmental Education Specialist.
"Then I became the assistant manager for Presque Isle State Park in Erie and was there for seven years," Mumau said. "I was promoted to my current position in July of this past year at Laurel Hill."
There are a variety of responsibilities he has now, including focusing on operations and the outreach of what Laurel Hill does at its three state parks.
The three state parks that make up the Laurel Hill State Park Complex in Somerset County include Laurel Hill, Laurel Ridge and Kooser. These parks cover more than 17,000 acres.
Mumau said the parks really try to offer a large variety of activities for visitors while at the same time providing environmental education and programs for the public and students.
He also said there is a huge offering of different overnight options at these parks, from camping in a tent to camping in a lodge or shelter.
"Basically anyone who has a hobby in the outdoors will find something here for them," Mumau said. "Hunting, fishing, hiking, bird watching and backpacking are just some. We try to meet all the recreational needs of as many people as possible."
One of Mumau's goals to achieve while at his position is to raise the value and importance of the parks in the public's eye.
Another goal Mumau has is to reach children and connect them with the outdoors as early as possible so they can experience the outdoors at an early age and appreciate all it has to offer in their future.
He said he wants to make sure other generations have the opportunity to see the leaves on the trees and clean water in the rivers.
With such a passion for the outdoors, Mumau said there has never been a time when he wanted to reconsider what he has done or what he is doing with his life.
