Tragic events remembered six years later

Students, faculty, staff share stories about 9/11

At 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001, many people changed the way they perceive the world. College students, staff and faculty now have more to think about when this day comes back around. Slippery Rock University senior elementary education major Dana Camberg said that she remembers the day in tenth grade when the towers fell.

Local center providing programs for community

Slippery Rock University's Center for Lifelong and Community Learning is back in action with new workforce and community education programs available. "We are looking to serve the people of Slippery Rock and its community in terms of building professional development," said Director of Workforce and Community Education Merilee Madera.

New VP enhances alumni involvement

There have been many new faces that have taken over the campus in the past weeks. One of them belongs to new Vice President for University Advancement Barbara Ender. She recently started her new position at SRU in the beginning of July, coming directly from Morehead State University in Kentucky to help raise private donations for the university and raise the amount of participating alumni.

SRU Women's Center reaches out to male population with on-campus events

New changes that are based on issues that concern both the women and men of Slippery Rock University are coming to the Women's Center. From Constitution Day on Sept. 17, which is a day that examines the affect of women in United States government, to Love Your Body Day on Oct.

SRU student runs for cancer research

A Slippery Rock University student completed a marathon to raise money for liver cancer research Sunday. Amanda Renne Budzowski, 21, is a senior exercise and rehabilitative science major with a minor in adaptive physical activity who has raised $1,169 for liver cancer research, with more pledges on the way, by completing the Erie Marathon, a 26.

Leadership program encourages interaction

Students and faculty celebrated the new Compass Leadership Program with a kickoff party on Sept. 10 with 65 students attending. Students talked to faculty about the leadership program and were able to complete one of the many workshops for attending the party.
