For the second time in as many weeks, the SRU track team saw school records fall at meets. The Rock competed last weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and at the Sparky Adams Invitational in Berea, Ohio.

Coach John Papa was happy with the teams' performances last weekend.

"I am excited about how we competed," Papa said. "We are ready to go to PSAC and have a good performance."

It was at the Penn Relays where two school records were broken.

The first record to fall was by junior Raissa Weiss, who placed 16th in the 3,000-metersteeple chase with a time of 11:14.85. Also with this time, she improved on her NCAA Division II provisional time.

Freshman Jennifer Harpp was the other woman to compete at the Penn Relays, finishing 24th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:08.10.

Harpp also improved on her NCAA Division II provisional time with that run.

For the men at the Penn Relays, the second SRU record was broken.

Sophomore Jeff Weiss set a school record in the 5,000-meter run on his way to an eighth place finish. As the two women did, Weiss also improved on his national qualifying time. Weiss held the previous record and the new record was 5.03 seconds faster.

Rock sophomore Patrick Reagan placed sixth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:28.44. He as well improved his national qualifying time.

For the runners who did not compete at the Penn Relays, they competed at the Sparky Adams Invitational in Ohio. For the women at the Sparky Adams Invite, senior Andi Rose won the 100-meter and the 400-meter hurdles with the times of 14:03 and 1:00.72.

The 4x400 relay team of Rose, sophomore Lacey Cochran, freshman Jessica Sackin and senior Melissa Sopher finished first with a time of 3:50.87.

Freshman Susan Yuhas garnered the only other first place for the women in the javelin. She won the event with a distance of 127 feet 5 inches. Cochran, Rose, sophomore Vera McDaniel and junior Janiece Rash finished second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.66.
