Papa thinks that they are ready for the PSACs.
"We have many of our runners competing at their best and that is where we want to be for PSAC," Papa said. "For the ladies we are favored to win. We need to do what we have done all year and we will be fine. That will give us our best shot of winning."
Papa thinks that even though it is going to be a little harder, the men could also take top honors at the PSAC.
"On paper, we are third in the conference," Papa said. "We are going to need heroes, people to step up and we are looking for volunteers to be difference makers."
The season is over after the PSAC Championships, except for the ones that qualified for the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships, which take place May 24 to 26 in Charlotte, N.C.
The athletes that have qualified for nationals will stay at SRU until the meet.
"The kids will stay around here until the meet," Papa said. "We are competing in a meet at Allegheny next week. We are going to keep them busy and let them rest and recover from the PSACs, then get back at it after they have rested."
Papa said that they have one goal for the runners, and that is going to nationals.
"Our goal is for the runners to get in the top eight, which is All-American status at nationals," Papa said.
